iX project - iX has a long term plans of creating an X11 (or a similar alternative) based OS that can be used as a viable alternative to iOS or Android on the iPhone this will hopefully open up a whole new spectrum of opportunities for the device using packages available in Ubuntu’s ports.ubuntu.com repo and other sources that are compatible with ARM (the Debian repositories for example).
iGo project - iGo has very similar goals to iX. The difference is that iGo will provide a highly optimized version of Gentoo Linux for the iDevices. It also aims to be smaller and faster than a normal Debian or Ubuntu for arm devices would be. Checkout the blog for further information.
