Title: -UPDATED- iDroid Project Official iDroid V1.0 Release
Post by: nickp666 on August 04, 2010, 08:31:20 PM
On behalf of the idroid dev team, I am proud to announce the release of iDroid v1.0 MoJo.

This release is presently for 2G & 3G. IPT1G now released!

What is this?
This is the iDroid Project's first official release of Android Froyo for iDevices, built from the community source code repos at http://www.github.com/iDroid-Project (http://www.github.com/iDroid-Project)

We decided to release our own official version because of the fragmentation of releases and user confusion, this has made bug tracking and dev progress difficult, this release hopes to counter that.

Why v1.0 seeing as its alpha?
Some people have asked why we have opted to use v1.0 even though this is not considered a stable release, the ONLY reason we did this, was so not to confuse people by using similar numbers to planetbeings original releases of donut.

Kernel Note
The 2G kernel is adb over USB, wheras the 3G version is adb over WiFi, this was an oversight (Just used alex's config without checking it) which will be rectified in the next release, I can also provide a 2G kernel without the usb gadget enabled if that is of any help.

IPT1G release is adb over WiFi also.

Whats new in this release?
More concise changes can be taken from the commit logs at our github repos, here are some of them:

Pre-rooted
ultrasn0w is now implemented in the ril library in android, so everyone should have carrier unlock.
SD Emulation now complete for Froyo - without market issues. (/private/var/sdcard)
WiFi on boot (once configured)
Accelerometer driver android side fixed, no longer gets stuck after lockscreen
DTMF Tones

How do I install this?
At present you will have to do it manually, detailed instructions are included within the release, see the INSTALL file in the archive.

Release cycle
Minor releases will be put out whenever progress is made, I cannot give you timescales because I simply do not know - as soon as there is something that needs to be added, a minor release will be put out with the changes in it.

Why MoJo?
I don't know, ask Bluerise :)

Known Issues
Loopback devices are presently not cleanly unmounted (as has been the case since day 1), as a result an integrity check is forced at startup slowing down boot time a little.
Lack of PMU - we still have no power management, this is being worked on and will appear in a later release as soon as it is ready.

Reporting Issues/Requesting Features
We have a development tracker system set up to take bug reports and feature requests which you can find at: http://dev.idroidproject.org (http://dev.idroidproject.org) - please take the time to report any issues you find there.

Downloads

DONT FORGET TO REPORT YOUR BUGS/ISSUES ON OUR ISSUE TRACKER - WE CANNOT FIX PROBLEMS WE DONT KNOW ABOUT!

Releases for all platforms are available for download now at: http://idroid.nickpack.com/iDroid/offic ... d-Project/ (http://idroid.nickpack.com/iDroid/official/iDroid-Project/)

2G Users will want the 1.0.1 version as this fixes an issue with 2G sound.

I would just like to state for anyone who is new to any Froyo version of iDroid that it is normal that the Launcher (home) is laggy. This is due to the current lack of GPU support. If it annoys you too much, you can try installing the Marketplace and install a replcement homescreen such as Launcher2, LauncherPRO etc

I am having problems using adb with this release version on iPhone 2G. I am  getting the message "Unable to connect to 192.168.1.73:5555." I tried in both Ubuntu and in Windows 7. I was able to adb over wifi on previous versions of ddFroyo2g. Any assistance would be appreciated. Also this release is indeed quite fast and the wifi does scan better than in previous versions! Thanks for all the great work iDroid dev team!

This release uses adb over usb, where as ddfroyo used adb over wifi. Search the wiki for instructions on setting it up.

koaaN, the asound.conf on the common repo is not updated.  Get asound.conf from any ddFroYo version v3 up. It's in system.img /etc/asound.conf and put it in the MoJo etc/asound.conf

Like Alex said a few posts up, it's adb via usb. The instructions are in the wiki.

The cydia repository is nothing to do with any of us I'm afraid, so its in the hands of whoever runs that

I wasnt aware of this, I will have to package an update for 2G today.

EDIT: I have now committed this to the community repos, I will add it to the system.img

EDIT2: 2G Users will find MoJo v1.0.1 in the same directory as the original release, this has the sound fix added

Its an iOS app that you will be able to install on your phone, which will then install iDroid.

It isnt out for release yet, so you will have to wait for it, as for installing and getting firmware, this is all covered in the INSTALL file in the archive and also on the wiki.

If you need help for it, please post a thread in the relevant help section.

You'll need a kernel with USB gadget support, I'm afraid I dont have one pre-compiled so you'll have to compile one yourself or ask someone to do it for you.

I've got 2 last questions, so if someone can answer them i will be more than greatful.

First, how can i transfer my media and contacts from the iphone to the android? i saw the guide in the installation file but i couldnt understand it.. i dont have any folder called "sdcard" and even if i did - i have no idea how to transfer the information there and from where (??)

Secondly, how can i download free google apps? i mean, facebook and stuff. i cant see the market app... any suggestions?

Thanks very much,
Shani!

There is a guide in the 3G forum to adding apps from bugless beast (we cannot legally distribute them)

You can SCP your files to /private/var/sdcard and android will pick them up.

Hope that helps

They are not shared with iOS, you will need to either boot up iOS and use ssh/scp to put your files in /private/var/sdcard or you will need to use adb push to /sdcard if you are booted into android
