Title: iDroid MoJo 1.0.5 Release Announcement
Post by: nickp666 on December 16, 2010, 08:31:06 PM
On behalf of the iDroid dev team, I am proud to announce the immediate availability of iDroid MoJo v1.0.5

This release is for iPhone 2G,  iPhone 3G & iPod Touch 1G and is available via bootlace or as a binary package.

IF YOUR DEVICE IS NOT STATED ABOVE THEN IT IS NOT SUPPORTED - WE DO NOT HAVE ETA'S ON OTHER PORTS AT THE MOMENT.

BEFORE YOU DOWNLOAD, PLEASE SEE THE KNOWN ISSUES SECTION - THIS WILL SAVE US SOME SUPPORT TIME BY EXPLAINING SOME KEY ISSUES

What is this?
This is the iDroid Project's fifth minor release of Android Froyo for iDevices, built from the community source code repos at http://www.github.com/iDroid-Project (http://www.github.com/iDroid-Project)

Changelog
There have been a large amount of changes across all of our repositories, some of the more key ones are summarised here, but I would suggest checking our Github organisation for a full changes list.

Known Issues

ISSUES SPECIFIC TO THIS RELEASE:
SIM Pin Support
Sim pin support is implemented in this release for all basebands, there is however at this point one caveat for some iPhone 3G basebands and those of you with an iPhone 2G - 3G ultrasn0w compatible baseband versions are not affected by this issue, only applicable to basebands that rely on a wildcard unlock and those that are pre ultrasn0w.

Wildcard unlock/iPhone 2G users will be able to enter their pin successfully and the baseband will unlock at the ril level, however android itself never actually sees this happen, therefore you have to go into Settings and enable airplane mode, then disable it again to get android to see that the baseband is unlocked - this will be fixed in a later release once the baseband communications layer has been rewritten - we figured that some sim pin support was better than none at all for the moment.

Hardware button mapping
We have restored volume button functionality in this release, we have not yet approached the configuration you voted for in the button config poll - there are some technical challenges preventing it and it has also sparked a large amount of debate amongst the development team, therefore for the moment the button configuration is as follows:

Software buttons: send, home, end
Hardware buttons:

We will discuss this more and address the problems at a later date.

FAQ/User guide
ddominator has gone to great lengths to provide FAQ's and general usage information for iDroid, before posting please take a moment to read these, as a lot of common questions are already answered.

User Manual - http://www.idroidproject.org/wiki/User_Manual
FAQ - http://www.idroidproject.org/wiki/FAQ

Reporting Issues/Requesting Features
Please remember, this is alpha quality software - there is still a lot to be done.

We have a development tracker system set up to take bug reports and feature requests which you can find at: http://dev.idroidproject.org (http://dev.idroidproject.org) - please take the time to report any issues you find there.

Please take the time to file a proper bug report, 'iDroid is slow' is not constructive, and is a waste of developers time to answer, please if you wish to raise an issue be as specific as you can, this will greatly increase the chances of your issue being resolved and reduces the workload of the developers drastically.

Getting Help
You can get help by posting in the relevant board on the forum, you can also find the developers and other users in #iphonelinux and #idroid-dev on irc.osx86.hu

Source Code/Contributing
Our source code is hosted on github: http://github.com/iDroid-Project (http://github.com/iDroid-Project)

If you are a developer with Kernel experience, C, Java, C++ or ARM assembler skills and would like to help, feel free to speak to us on IRC in #idroid-dev, we'd be happy to help you get started.

Please honour the licences of the respective code and our Open Source ethos by sharing any changes/improvements you make to it.

Chiming in on this one. When it was first posted I went and tried to update and it was working grand, but I [Home] canceled it because my battery was dying. Now, several hours later, it says it can't check for updates.

The iDroid install part of Bootlace will be down until some point tomorrow. If you grabbed the 1.0.5 release and it broke wait for a fix.

with bootlace everything is gone perfectly. 1.0.5 fixed sd card and wifi bugs. I'm now trying to download any AdnroidMarket alternatives like http://www.androidpit.com/en/android/market/app-center or http://andappstore.com/AndroidApplications/ but every time i try to download a market, when i'm installing it i receive an error saying 'Parse error - there is a problem parsing the package' . What's going wrong?? why,how can i solve?
Thanks very much, everything is going fantastic with this project.

For now the Project is concerned with getting Android OS working properly before we go into the userland stuff like Market and alternatives.  It's a 3rd party App that the Project has not fully tested or played with so we cannot completely answer or give solutions/workarounds.  I think it would be best to ask help from the said App's support area/forum. Or maybe someone else on the forums has the same problem and found the solution, please help campi9.

Grats on the new release ! I hope it's not just patches and workarounds this time  :P
I just installed it manually and it booted on first try. Wifi works without dns issue. Cannot test calls, no credits in my account.
Cannot connect using adb, will keep toying with it.

I guess that's our holiday gift from the dev team, thanks ! It just seems more stable every time.

Wow. Just set up Gmail as an exchange server, and suddenly Email, Contacts, and Calendar. That's new. I remember not getting that to work in 1.0.4.1.

And among all of this? The phone actually gained around 5% on the charger. It charges! Woo! I don't know what you did to make it work, but it charges! It used to slowly drain on the charger.

It still gets really hot, but whatever, woot progress!

The Gallery works like a charm. The software buttons are functional, but I'm not crazy about them-- it's difficult to consistently pull down the notification area because of my case, I keep missing and touching right underneath it. (That's not your fault, it's mine for having the silly case.) I tried installing a live wallpaper with no luck, it installs but doesn't show up. Not surprised, I don't think they were working before.

Wonderful progress nonetheless. I'd test out the ad-hoc support, but naturally, I just bought a wireless router last week, mostly to get Android to work properly, so it's not needed. Ahh Murphy, how your influence does permeate throughout all aspects of development.

Live wallpaper will not work until GPU is ported.  I'm glad it's working well for you.

Well, this is unusual. iDroid has been working fine for a while, but something's quite clearly amiss. I'm sure the authorities should be notified.

It was all working so well until I decided to let it idle, and browse some forum not giving it attention. That's when I heard it. A little, tiny gnome, beating on my iPhone's speaker with a tiny hammer! I'm just not sure what to do, I mean, clearly he wants out. He makes a fuss every few minutes or so, and won't let me work in peace. Shouldn't the iDroid developers be more considerate of which mythical creatures it employs to drive its devices?

(on the plus side, Swype Beta works great, they just released a new one.)

This is a known bug with the wm8991 driver, I tried to fix it, but the registers that wolfson had in the driver are wrong, so I need to do some more work on it :)

And to answer the original question, this is why we had to employ gnomes to work around the issue, and they get claustrophobic every now and again. Don't worry though, we have a good pension plan for them.

this is what I did

downloaded idroid from the web=did not work
updated via bootlace =jippy
start android, did my setup(wallpaper and ringtone),put wifi on
went to the website and downloaded the program
and it just woked.my jailbreake is snowbrise

and I have to add that I have ix-openiboot  so my
idroid is not in /var/idroid

and for the devs.if I do stuff in android ios gets effected
for ex. if I set only 2g in android and go in to ios i can not
use 3g or use safari (no data network)

I don't understand this (maybe it's just me?) but WiFi has never worked on iDroid for any build - including this newest one, whereas I see people connecting just fine and it fixed after this update. I used BootLace & installed iDroid that way, but it'll try to connect to my Wifi and immediately show up "Disconnected". I have not tried on an open connection and cannot make mine open to test - my father has the password into the router, not myself. I will attempt to go to Starbucks or somewhere and get on open access to see if it's my phone or the build. More than likely, this is my router, correct?

Well you have to keep switching wifi on/off and maybe airplane mode also, sometimes it takes me up to 15 tries but usually around 3-4 or so, but it should eventually work.

I noticed another little bug with Wifi that might help some people: I have to "Forget" and reconnect to my wifi network after the first try. For some reason, iDroid won't reconnect to a network that I have saved, it gets stuck in the scanning step. That, combined with usually one or two wifi resets when the driver bugs out, and I'm able to hold a wifi connection consistently.
