OpeniBoot 0.2 - Tools & Windows Drivers
« on: November 24, 2010, 07:33:57 PM »
OpeniBoot 0.2 images are now available at: http://idroid.nickpack.com/openiBoot

There are also new tools in the subfolder - These are required due to significant changes to the USB protocol in OpeniBoot.

OSX Users: You'll need to install homebrew and use that to install readline and libusb (Until I have time to make a complete install package) - I am aware that the old guides and releases required a specific USB package, I have since switched from this as I intend to package it all up as an installer when I have more time.

Windows Users
--------------------
For the first time, we have released signed windows drivers for OpeniBoot!

Meaning you can now completely install iDroid and OpeniBoot from windows - no more VM's ;)

We are in the process of preparing a guide for Windows installation, but the process is (roughly):
Put device in recovery, Drop openiboot.img3 on loadibec, - When the "new hardware" wizard appears, point to the tools folder for your system, run oibc.exe and use it as you would on any other platform

OpeniBoot Changelog
----------------------------
loadibec completely re-written
oibc completely re-written (Now Multi-threaded)
Added different word size support for SPI driver
Known-position task switching
Heavily refactored USB protocol
Removed libirecovery
Fixed a bug with large word transfers over SPI
Fixed minor bug in mmu.c
Fixed some minor bugs in the framebuffer
Version string now stored in /openiboot
Updated default/temp os config to new standard
Added boot_ios command
Fixed some incorrect registers
added multitouch firmware uninstall command (This does not happen automatically on uninstall - this is by design)
FOR A MORE DETAILED SUMMARY OF THE CHANGES TO OPENIBOOT PLEASE SEE https://github.com/iDroid-Project/openiBoot/commits

I followed the instructions to get Openiboot on my iphone 3g under Windows 7 64 bit. But having some trouble..
It loads the openiboot-image with the command 'loadibec', the openiboot menu comes on the iphone and then i type 'oibc' but i get a message saying
"failed to open openiboot connection <2>". I dont get the "Add Hardware Wizard" window. Any thoughts what this could be?

My Iphone wifi doesnt work and dont have linux so this is the only way i can think off..

Thanks;

Try manually adding the Hardware...

Run the Add Hardware Wizard (Start -> Run -> "hdwwiz")

Add Hardware Wizard
Read the warnings, then click "Next"
Choose "Install the hardware that I manually select from a list (Advanced)" this is the 2nd option, then click "Next"
Select "Show All Devices", then click "Next"
You are going to see a grayed-out text box with "(Retrieving a list of all devices)", click the "Have Disk..." button
"Browse" to the openiboot folder (best if put in Desktop) and then to the driver folder for your Windows OS. It will be looking of a .inf file so select the .inf and click "Open" then "OK".
Install the driver. And ignore the warnings (if ever) by clicking "Install Anyway" or "Always trust this source"
Wait for the confirmation. Ignore if it warns about "Device cannot start", click the "Finish" button anyways.

Note: I'm on a Mac so I haven't checked it in Windows yet.

You have to open the console from the OpeniBoot menu before running oibc on Windows.

@ddomintor: manually adding the drivers worked, i had to disable Driver Signature Enforcement to work properly.

Now how do i add OS idroid, witch files to add?
Im using Diskaïd and under root/private/var/ , i dont have the /idroid folder just a bunch of other folders. I need psfreedom to jailbreak a ps3 and android.

Thanks for the help;

You need to manually create the "idroid" folder... I don't use diskaid but I think there should be able to create a new folder from there.

Ok i managed to get it to work, i added the files that are in the 'idroid' folder witch i downloaded from the main page (MoJo v1.0.5).
But the touch screen doesnt seem to react? Should i copy the whole content of the 'iDroid-1.0.5-MoJo-3G'?

Thanks;

Touch screen does not work because I think you forgot to install the zephyr2 firmware.

Well it would be better to follow the entire Installation Guide:
http://www.idroidproject.org/wiki/Installing_iDroid_(Linux)

Although you are on Windows, follow the steps, for Extraction of Firmware (using Bootlace)...

However you get it, put the zephyr2.bin into /private/var/firmware

And zephyr2.bin is copyrighted by Apple so we can't distribute that... you have to extract it from your phone itself.

Its all good now, just overwriting the appropriate psfreedom files in the /idroid/ folder.
I just have to replace them everytime i want to use android os. I know that i can use the tripboot method that i red somewhere in the forum.
Its okay for now. Thanks for all the help its very much appreciated.

There's a new OpeniBoot in the works which will allow you to easily add more entries to the menu (for psfreedom or iX, etc.)
