EXTREME OPENIBOOT ISSUE!!!
« on: September 02, 2011, 02:21:13 AM »
My iPhone 3G won't boot into iOS, Android, and when in console, it doesn't work on either Linux or Mac. I haven't tried Windows, but I did it exactly the way that the guides showed it online. I always get the error message that the command doesn't work (the sudo ./oibc (or whatever it is)). PLEASE HELP!!! It is useless not being able to boot into iOS, Android, and if I can't uninstall it (I already tried RecBoot), I can not boot it into recovery mode. I can not even turn the device off because if I wait a while on iOS (I can't press and hold the Power button with the home button to turn it off) it will restart to OpeniBoot and give me the option to go into one of the three. If pressing the power button and home button for like 8 seconds actually works, it just starts back to the OpeniBoot screen.

Please Help me!!!

Do a DFU restore.

DFU restore is built into the device. It is not dependent whether you have OpeniBoot or not. If you cannot enter DFU mode, then you are doing something wrong.

If it can't boot into iOS or Android, something crazy happened with your phone.  Uninstalling OpeniBoot will not solve this. You need to restore in iTunes.

What shows up when you turn on your iPhone? The OpeniBoot selection screen?

If you can't get into DFU mode then you are doing something wrong. Search youtube for vids on how to get to DFU mode.  Ignore whatever is on the iPhone's screen until it turns black and iTunes says it has detected something in recovery mode.

I have gone into DFU mode many many times. It didn't work. I get the OpeniBoot screen.

Hey guys, sorry i this is posted in the wrong section (this is my 1st time usin a forum really) but i need to ask this. iDroid is really awesome but im having some problems with it. it overheats after not even a minute of use and im worried it will damage my iPhone 3G. and by overheats i mean it gets really hot on the back in the centre. is there some way of fixing this? it would be awesome to know if ur working on an update for this. and i installed idroid and openiboot using bootlace in cydia. iDroid Version: 11.04, Android Version: 2.3.3 thanks. Keep up the awesome work :) iDroid FTW

Yea, wrong section. But to answer your question, it is normal since there's no power management fully implemented in iDroid. No fixes yet.
* MacBook Pro: OSX Lion, Win 7 Pro, Ubuntu 11.10
* Acer Aspire 3680: Win 7 Ult, Ubuntu 11.10
* 1st gen iPod Nano
* iPhone 3G: iOS 4.2.1, iDroid 11.04 Pepparkaka - jailbroken w/ redsn0w 0.9.6rc7b
* iPod Touch (4th gen): iOS 5.0.1 - jailbroken with redsn0w 0.9.9b8

@lisdavid89  you said:
 "it is normal since there's no power management fully implemented in iDroid"

But is it normal. I guess this should be the first priority by the dev team to look after.
In my case. my iPhone gets hot plus it is not letting me unlock and log into iPhone after booting into iDroid.

It gets hanged with its iDroid robot image constantly showing up and not letting me do anything then.
