Running OpeniBoot on iPod Touch 2G - MC and MB

- You cannot install Android yet, you only have a console playing around with


- An iPod Touch 2G, MB models need to be jailbroken with redsn0w and MC models need to be put in DFU mode to run it.

- Linux or Mac OS X

HowTo Install OpeniBoot:

- Boot and open the Terminal.
- If you are not in the home directory run:

"cd ~"
- Install the needed files:

sudo apt-get install libusb-1.0-0 libusb-1.0-0-dev libreadline6-dev readline-common libreadline6 libreadline-dev texinfo git-core build-essential libpng12-dev
Note: On Mac OS X install Xcode 4, homebrew then install wget and scons.

- Get the OpeniBoot Source:

git clone git:// --recursive

cd openiBoot/
- Build an ARM toolchain for OpeniBoot (only needs to be done once):

sudo toolchain/ make
This will take some time. Get a coffee.

- Next, do this:

cd openiboot && scons iPodTouch2G && scons ipt_2g_openiboot.bin
- Now the next step:

cd ../utils/syringe && make
- Put your iPod Touch 2G MB in recovery mode to load OpeniBoot
Turn your iPod on and plug it to the computer.
Now turn it off, and after it is off, press and hold the home button.
Now turn your iPod on whilst holding the home button

- Now load the img3 to your iPod Touch 2G:

utilities/loadibec ../../openiboot/ipt_2g_openiboot.img3
- If you have an iPod Touch 2G MC model, put it in DFU mode and run:

utilities/loadibec ../../openiboot/ipt_2g_openiboot.bin
Next do:

cd ../oibc && make
Then run:

From here you can install OpeniBoot - MB models only - and play around with it a little...

How to uninstall OpeniBoot:

Load up OIBC with the iPod and run
