iPhone 4 - New Bootrom exploits
« on: October 11, 2010, 09:10:04 AM »
With the new bootrom exploit covering most devices, I felt that it was finally time to start this thread now that everyone has access to it. I'm under the impression that limera1n is a tethered bootrom exploit, however it becomes untethered via a kernal exploit before you get the plug into iTunes message. How this will change our ability to run openiboot on the iphone 4, I'm not entirely certain, but I have a feeling that it will require a tether to run android. Since the iPhone 4 is the current technology, lets get some active work ported in this direction! I'm triple booting xp 7 and ubuntu and will be doing some snooping around. Please post your findings here.

We've had countless threads on this subject. The latest tweet also says not to talk about it because we haven't yet decided the plan of action.

I have personally confirmed with a chronic/Dev-team member that limera1n will allow for tethered openiboot loading. That still means we have to rewrite openiboot for the new devices. A daunting task considering all the new hardware.

seems that bluerise has had some success with the iPhone 4 port, at least his github has iPhone 4 instructions and his twitter seems to say as much.
Compiled it if anyone wants, not tested as i don't think loadibec works for the iPhone 4, at least it didn't on mine :P
