Problem with iPhone 3G
« on: July 24, 2011, 08:06:54 PM »
Hello,
I traded an iphone 3g for a GPS three days  ago. The guy I traded it with said me and made me see that he had ANDROID installed in his iphone. I knew nothing about iphone or ANDROID… Everything (msn, facebook, phone, display...) worked very well . Photos, addresses, phones and apps that didn’t interest me appeared on this iphone. Then I didn’t know anything about itunes and Android, so I went to settings and find an application that said restore where it was warned about what could happen and then I restored all. I did not care because I thought that iPhone works like a PC ... now I have my iphone dead and when I turn it on,  iPhone logo, Android logo and a logo that is called a console appear on its screen.
When I connect the iPhone to Windows XP64, Apple Mobile Device (openiboot Device)  appears on the task manager...

I need someone to tell me how I should do firstly, if I should install or uninstall any firmware of ANDROID  or openiboot or iOS and how to proceed firstly.

I upload some videos on youtube

First, please read the forums rules on every section (it has a PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING on it) where to post. The Tutorials section is where to post Guides to help people. The Support section is where to post when asking for help and questions.

Second, as a general rule with tech products, if you have no idea what you are doing please read a guide/wiki/ask for help before doing anything that may damage your device.  Also shame on the guy who traded you an iphone since he didn't even bother restoring it.

Third, what do you want to show us with your videos? Please describe what each video is about.

Fourth, what exactly do you need help in?  Can you be more specific? Do you want to keep android or remove it?

Thank you very much for answering. my English is not very good.

First I apologize for posting on an inappropriate place.

Second I would like removing Android completely and only restoring iphone and its firmware and iOS again. The problem is I have no idea how to do it. How could I start? I should uninstall openiboot or android first.

Through my videos, I want to show what appears on display when I turn on my iphone, I didn’t know what kind of problem is. Only I can say that the openiboot version is 0.2.

Third, I may ask the same question several times because I am inexpert. I’ll try to be as diligent as I can.

Finally could you recommend me what manuals are the most appropriate for this problem? Could you indicate me some of them?, please.

Thanks..

There is no problem in your videos, everything is working fine.

The easiest way to remove OpeniBoot is to make it go into restore mode and restoring in iTunes.  This is different from what you did before when you used the Reset function in the iPhone.

Requirements:
- Computer with iTunes installed
- USB Cable connecting iPhone and PC
- iPhone that can boot into iOS.

Steps:
1. Turn off the iPhone
2. Turn on your PC and open iTunes.
3. Press/hold the "Home" button on your iPhone and do not release the button. CONTINUE PRESSING THE HOME BUTTON UNTIL STEP 7.
4. Connect the iPhone and the PC with the cable
5. The Phone should turn on automatically. The screen with the 3 options will show up; let it select iOS (this is default). Your finger is still on the Home button. If it doesn't power on automatically, power it on but your finger must still be on the Home button.
6. The Apple logo will load but after some time the screen will change to a picture of the old iTunes logo and a USB cable.
7. When the picture with the old iTunes logo and a USB cable is on screen, you can now let go of Home button.
8. Restore iPhone in iTunes. Select Yes to everything.
9. Wait for a while.
10. After everything is done, your iPhone will totally be in its factory settings. You will have to jailbreak and/or unlock it if you need to (just look it up in Youtube on how to jailbreak).

Here is a video that will help: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9WU22SR-PVM

Only difference is video uploader does not have openiboot. Just keep pressing the Home button and everything will work.

Hi,

Thank you for answering. Your information has been very useful for me. The problem with Android has been resolved with a PC of another guy. His Windows is 32 bit my windows is 64 and therefore my Windows didn’t work. Android was deleted in his computer with Itunes, but everything wasn’t restored because, when lacking 10% for restoration, an error 1015 happened. Now my iPhone shows a drawing of a wire and the itunes logo.

Now my iphone only recognizes the itunes on my friend’s computer, but his windows doesn’t recognize it and it only appears as Apple Mobile Device (recovery mode) on my computer
What should I do now? Could you show me the difference between firmware and iOS?

Thank you for everything,

Best regards.

Basically there are many reasons why error 1015 can happen. This is no longer something we know.  You can try googling for it.

Here's something that can help: http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/how-to-fix-iphone-3g3gs-1015-itunes-restore-error/

This is an iTunes error, so look in Google for "1015 itunes iphone 3g"
