iPhone 3G / [SOLVED]Renaming a file using openiboot's console
« on: November 01, 2010, 04:40:56 PM »
Hello :D
So, I've recently screwed up my iphone and was desperate to find a solution when I thought about openiboot and surprisingly, it seems like I'm on the right path :)

Long story short - MyWi got my iphone into a reboot loop, I read somewhere that renaming MobileSubstrate.dylib to something else would force my phone to boot in to safe mode, and as you can guess, that didn't work.

Believe me I wouldn't get into such a mess with openiboot if I wasn't really desperate - iTunes won't restore, 16XX errors EVEN with iREB :/

So basically only thing i need you guys to tell me know is -
is there ANYWAY to rename a file from console?
If it helps, I did mange to 'extract' the desired file to memory (no idea what that means, seemed to me like somthing usefull)

Sorry if this so the wrong forum, if it is please move my post

Thanks in advance!

figured it out,
I've found MobileSubstrate.dylib download so I've used
to upload it to the memory and then
fs_add /var Library/MobileSubstrate/MobileSubstrate.dylib 0x09000000 14416
to copy it from the memory to the filesystem.

iPhone 2G / Broken power button & openiboot
« on: May 01, 2010, 07:56:23 AM »
Yesterday I red a tutorial on how to install openiboot and android on my iphoen 2g
the only problem i have is, my power button doesnt work :'|
so as stupid as it might sound i cannot swich between the OS's in openiboot
Is there anyway anyone knows about making the volum buttons change the selection in openiboot or a command that i can use in terminal to send the power button keypress action to the device?
or even how to change the openiboot.img3's (if thats the correct file) buttons?

Thanks in advance,
