Dripwn is a simple, open source, tool to simplify extracting the Zephyr firmware files from Apple restore IPSWs. Released by Munnerz on 25/04/2010. It currently only works with OS X.

There is also a command line utility that can be checked out from the repo below that can be run and compiled for Win32/Unix. It can be found as part of the xpwn source.

Run the app, select "Extract firmware", choose your IPSW then choose the destination folder. Two files will be placed in the destination folder. This is the firmware. Same firmware is extracted from iPhone 1,1 , 1,2 and 2,1.
