Dripwn 1.x is a simple, open source, tool to simplify extracting the Zephyr firmware files from Apple restore IPSWs. Released by Munnerz on 25/04/2010. It currently only works with OS X.

Dripwn 2.0 however, simply extracts the Zephyr files from ANY device plugged into your Mac. It is a MUCH better piece of software, once again, developed by Munnerz and released on 04/05/2022

There is also a command line utility that can be checked out from the repo below that can be run and compiled for Win32/Unix. It can be found as part of the xpwn source.

Warning: Does not work with firmwares after 3.1.3

Usage (2.x)

Download dripwn from a mirror below. Run the app, plug your iDevice in, press Dump Zephyr and choose a directory to dump to!

Either compile xpwn and find dripwn in the source or download a precompiled dripwn, move the firmware + dripwn in the same folder and find the appropiate VFDecrypt key.

./dripwn *IPSW* *VFDecrypt key*

you can read more about the VFDecrypt keys: ipw:Northstar 7D11 (iPhone 3G) or ipw:Northstar 7D11 (iPhone)

If you do not wish to compile xpwn you can find a precompiled dripwn for unix here

For more information see Xpwn

Usage (1.x)

Run the app, select "Extract firmware", choose your IPSW then choose the destination folder. Two files will be placed in the destination folder. This is the firmware. Same firmware is extracted from iPhone 1,1 , 1,2 and 2,1.

If you can, please mirror these downloads to save current hosters bandwidth costs!
